NETGEAR M4250 Diagnostics

Planned: a NETGEAR M4250 switch on the RTI panel — is every AV device on the right port, alive and powered, with a PoE restart button.

Overview

Coming soon. This driver is on our roadmap. It will turn a NETGEAR M4250 AV-line switch into a diagnostic page on any RTI panel: for every port, whether the expected device is there, alive, in the right VLAN and powered — and a way to restart it when it hangs.

The driver will talk to the switch over SSH (the switch’s command line) and ping the devices from the RTI processor. Pick the M4250 model and the driver will know its ports; a Config Maker will fill the port list from a spreadsheet. One driver instance per switch. If you have a project waiting for this driver, write to us — knowing your system helps us decide what comes first.

What it will do

Expected device, actual device
Every port checked

Expected device, actual device

Name each port and give the MAC, IP and VLAN you expect. The driver will check link and speed, the MAC seen on the port, the device’s name from LLDP, its IP and a ping from the processor, and say in plain words what is wrong — “no PoE”, “other MAC”, “wrong VLAN” — or that the port is fine.

A frozen device restarted from the panel

Power, class and faults of every PoE port, a power-cycle button per port with confirmation that the device came back, PoE and ports switched on or off for good — and a PoE watchdog the switch itself doesn’t have: when a device stops answering pings, the driver will restart its port, a limited number of times.

One light for the whole system

The installation at a glance

One “all OK” flag and a list of problems for the home page of the panel, a warning when an unknown device appears on an unused port, events for macros (device lost, device back, PoE fault, switch offline) and the switch’s own health: model, firmware, PoE budget, temperature, fans and power supplies.
